Challenge

The original platform has an outdated interface that is difficult to navigate, causing frustration among users. The complex workflows and lack of clear visual hierarchy make it challenging for users to manage their learnings effectively and further their career. Our task is to simplify the user journey, reduce cognitive load, and incorporate modern design principles to make the platform more user-friendly and visually appealing.

Process

Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed the existing platform's analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor platforms and industry trends to gather insights

Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we restructured the platform's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.

Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.

Usability Testing: We conducted usability tests with a diverse group of PwC employees to validate the design and identify areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, we made necessary adjustments to the design.

Visual Design & Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates.

Integrating Platforms

During my internship, I also worked on PwC's AI-enhanced productivity platform used by over 100,000 employees. This platform is central to employees’ everyday needs and integrates various features with complex functionalities. The main challenge was improving the interface that effectively connects these features while ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.

My focus was designing the integration between PwC’s new learning platform and the AI platform. This required a deep understanding of how different systems interact. I had to balance technical constraints with user needs, ensuring that the interface facilitated a smooth connection.

I iterated on multiple design mockups, participated in collaborative sessions with engineers, PMs, and designers, and incorporated feedback to refine the interface. This iterative process allowed us to seamlessly integrate the two platforms.

While I left the company before seeing this project's major impacts, this challenge taught me the importance of integrating complex functionalities in a user-friendly way and the value of iterative design and collaboration. It highlighted how understanding system interactions and user needs is crucial for creating impactful and effective solutions.
